Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 11, 2026

SwipeLex ("we", "us", "our") is a language-learning app that helps you build and study flashcards. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account and using SwipeLex, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect the information you give us and the information generated as you use the app:

  • Account details — your email address, display name and, if you add one, a profile photo. SwipeLex requires an account, which you create with an email and password or by signing in with Google or Facebook.
  • Learning preferences — the language you are learning, the language you already speak, your CEFR level, your daily word goal and your reminder time.
  • Content you create — the decks, flashcards, words, translations, examples and images you add or generate in the app.
  • Study activity — your progress, streaks, statistics, experience points and which cards you have studied, so we can sync your learning across devices.
  • Feedback — the messages you send us through the in-app feedback form.
  • Technical data — your app version, device language and basic diagnostic information needed to operate and improve the service.

How we use your information

  • To provide the core service — hosting your decks and cards and syncing your progress across your devices.
  • To personalize your learning with the language pair, level and daily goal you choose.
  • To generate flashcard drafts and fetch illustrative images when you use the auto-fill feature (see "AI-assisted flashcards" below).
  • To send the daily study reminders you opt into.
  • To respond to your feedback and support requests.
  • To keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose and fix problems.

AI-assisted flashcards

When you use auto-fill to draft a flashcard, the word or phrase you enter — together with your chosen language pair and level — is sent to a third-party AI provider (such as Anthropic or OpenAI) to generate suggested translations and example sentences. To illustrate cards, we may retrieve stock images from a third-party image provider (such as Pexels). We do not send these providers your identity, and we do not use your private content to train third-party models. Suggestions are drafts you can edit or discard.

Device permissions

SwipeLex asks for certain device permissions only when you use the related feature, and you can change them at any time in your device settings:

  • Photos — so you can pick an image from your library to add to a flashcard.
  • Notifications — so we can show the daily study reminders you enable. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers — trusted companies that process data on our behalf to run the app, including cloud hosting and database providers, the authentication provider, the AI provider that drafts cards, and the image provider. They may only use the data to provide services to us.
  • Legal reasons — when required to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety and property of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers — if the app is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete your account and its associated data — your decks, progress and statistics — as described below.

Your rights and choices

  • Access and update — you can view and edit your profile, preferences and content directly in the app.
  • Delete your account — go to Profile → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data and cannot be undone.
  • Notifications — you can turn daily reminders on or off in Settings, or in your device notification settings.
  • Contact us — you can exercise any privacy rights available to you by writing to us at the address below.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections between the app and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International data transfers

Your data may be stored and processed on servers located in countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection when transferred internationally.

Children's privacy

SwipeLex is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
